Volvo Penta - Blue Water Marine Repair, Inc. in Gulfport, FL
For many years customers, out of their initial warranty, had the assurance of a one-year parts warranty every time they had a failed, non-maintenance part replaced with a new genuine Volvo Penta part.

Volvo Penta announced in late April, a two-year or 600-hour, fitted parts warranty is in effect for any non-maintenance part replaced by a certified Volvo Penta dealer for a marine leisure application. Even though this new warranty was announced recently, the warranty is retroactive to January 1, 2015.

Like its predecessor, the new parts warranty covers labor to install the part if it fails within the warranty period.“We already provide a generous warranty on our Genuine Volvo Penta Parts and Accessories, and this will continue as a benefit for all Volvo Penta customers,” said David Kennedy, director of parts and accessories operations for Volvo Penta of the Americas. “But we wanted to offer an extra level of protection for customers who buy parts and have them installed through our Volvo Penta dealers. The quality of our parts and accessories, together with our professional dealer network around the world, makes it possible for us to offer even more comprehensive coverage for customers.”

The new fitted warranty does not cover maintenance parts. The two-year, 600-hour interval is for marine leisure applications only. Industrial (two-years or 3,000-hours) and marine commercial (two-years or 1,000 hours) also enjoy the benefits of the new fitted parts warranty.

“With Volvo Penta, every link in the chain is strong,” said Kennedy. “We offer high-quality spare parts that are well suited to our engines, as well as outstanding service and expertise. But if something does go wrong, our warranty coverage – both standard and now extended – provides a first-class backup.” For more information, please visit our facility or contact us.

Volvo Penta Releases New 4.3L Engines for 2015, ‘16
In an attempt to create a new standard, Volvo Penta will release two new marine gasoline engines to the public for 2015 and 2016.

The 4.3-liter V6 engines, rated at 200 and 240 horsepower, will be the first installments in a complete line of next-generation V6 and V8 gasoline engines. The engines were first revealed at MDCE in November 2014.
Backed by the latest, state-of-the-art advances in engineering advances in the industry, these engines are the first to combine new innovative technologies, such as:

• Lightweight, all-aluminum block
• Variable Valve Timing (VVT)
• Common-rail direct fuel injection
• Freshwater cooling (FWC)
• Wideband oxygen sensors

Customers who purchase the new engines will receive key benefits over the current line of gas engines.

Better Fuel Economy and Lower Emissions

Due to the common-rail direct fuel injection into the cylinders, the fuel injection yields compression ratios in excess of 11.5:1, improving fuel efficiency by converting more fuel into energy for better propulsion.

Variable Valve Timing

The inclusion of VVT enables a higher torque and acceleration across the full range of RPMs.

No Saltwater Exposure

Each engine is equipped with a freshwater cooling system, completely eliminating any saltwater exposure to any internal engine parts.

Lightweight All-Aluminum Block

Compared to cast iron blocks, the lightweight all-aluminum blocks leads to an increased power-to-weight ratio.

Wideband Oxygen Sensors

The usage of wideband oxygen sensors means the engines are optimized for use with today's ethanol blended gasoline.

Environmentally Friendly

Keeping the environment in mind, these engines meet the most strict emission standards by a wide margin, including EPA, CARB and future EU requirements. CO emissions at idle are reduced by 95 percent.

Volvo Penta Releases New 4.3 Liter Engines for '15, '16

The line of next-generation engines were also designed with the consumer in mind. The V6-200 and V6-240 provide consumers with a competitively priced option in the marine sterndrive sector. The lightweight, all-aluminum block with the improved horsepower-to-weight ratio will lead to a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption, save consumers money at the pump and provide more time boating on the water.

The backbone of the new V6 engines is derived from General Motors' Gen V engines. GM currently has more than 1.3 million units on the road. They are built to GM's rigorous automotive quality control standards and consumers can be assured of their quality furthermore with Volvo Penta's 2+3 warranty.

Furthermore, dealers are already trained on the engine platform, so consumers will have no issues in finding a certified Volvo Penta technician to perform repairs. In most cases, parts and tooling are already available for purchase and extended service intervals and simplified servicing may cut back on maintenance costs and down time.
